Potatoes – the Most Popular Vegetable in the World
Did you know that when you eat a baked potato that you are eating the most popular vegetable in the world? What, you didn’t know that the potato was a vegetable? Well it is and it is one heck of a popular one. In the United States alone every man, woman, and child will eat on average over 120 pounds of potatoes every year.
The potato is even popular in outer space. In 1995 NASA had the astronauts grow a potato in the international space station. Rumor has it that they didn’t make a baked potato up there. Space is limited inside the space station and there just isn’t any room for a conventional oven for baking.
The potato is such a popular food that the only food item that is consumed more of is milk. This is a good thing because potatoes are very nutritious, filling, and they taste great.
My Daughter Built a Cupcake Stand
Recently, my daughter “though young” has decided that she would like to earn a little bit of her own spending money. While she is only ten years old, she is already learning the value of a dollar. She is very good at saving up her allowance and getting the things that she wants; now, she is looking at expanding her love of cupcakes and the hobby that she has turned it into. She just asked her mother and I if she could build her own custom cupcake stand. Of course, we told her that it would be just fine with us.
Just to keep her safe, I’ll be joining her and supervising her and I expect that I’ll have a great time working together on this project. My daughter is doing very well in school, and I have the feeling that this kind of work ethic is going to bring her a long way when she’s finally ready to hit the professional world. I couldn’t be more excited about the future.
